Ways in Waves "Death of Others" Single Release
Sahil Chugh is a producer, composer & keyboard player born and raised in
Edmonton, Alberta, and has been touring throughout the Canadian prairies for nearly a decade with a wide variety of artists and bands spanning several genres.
After receiving a scholarship to study at Macewan University in Edmonton, Sahil was able to study and attend clinic with such renowned musicians as Chris Andrew, Maria Schneider and Jean Michel-Pilc.
As a bandleader Sahil Chugh has had the opportunity to perform his own brand of original & improvised music in Edmonton via monthly and weekly residencies and several local venues including frequent performances and historic Canadian venue, Yardbird Suite. Sahil is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of contemporary improvised music, especially in western Canada.
Sahil's first single, titled 'Night Dragon' was released in November and has since been featured multiple times on satellite radio across North America including KEXP and CBC radio one.
His debut album, 'Don't Be Sad' will be released everywhere on May 3rd, 2024. This album is a compilation of music that was work shopped over years of performing live and writing music. It is a contemporary instrumental album that you could say falls under the vast umbrella of so called 'Jazz' music.
As a producer and composer, He continues to work with an array of pop, electronic, folk & R&B artists as well as taking on commissioned works for both theatre and film.
With original compositions focused on intricate rhythms, collective improvisation and
melodies that soar over top of everything else; each song tells a story in its own unique way.

Ways in Waves
Ways In Waves is the brainchild of Brian Raine, a multi-instrumentalist and music producer living out of Edmonton, Alberta. Originally hailing from Yellowknife, NT, Raine began playing music when he was four years old, and it became his singular focus before moving down to Alberta to study music at MacEwan University. There, he began developing the project that would eventually become Ways In Waves. With malleable form and the spirit of experimentation at its core, the group began as a live duo, and eventually expanded to a five piece live band with Raine picking up vocals as well as guitar and keys parts.
The first record “Bloodless Arches” (2019) was entirely self-produced by Raine and performed by himself and the drummer from the live band. As a whole, the album was conceptualized as an experience that takes the listener through the paces of making it through a bad day. At first it focuses on personal experiences, but zooms out toward the end of the track list. This conceptual writing in the lyrics was reflected in the production elements as well, placing each song in a specific physical space where the story of the lyrics existed.
