I've been given the blessing to host/throw a beautiful night at 99ten with a handpicked line up by yours truly. Couldn't be more satiated It's been a few years since I've ran a gig in this spot, if you've stuck around my journey in this industry then you know how special this venue/staff means to me and the city.

Denise: "I’m denise (she/her), I'm a 27-year-old emerging DJ, born in Manila-- settler on Treaty 6 Territory. I’m the Co-Founder of ClubClub, a local collective that brings people together through music and dance.
I’m an open-format DJ, and I love to mix anything that gets the crowd moving. My sets range from R&B to house, and I’m always experimenting with new sounds. Music has always been a way for me to connect with people, and I’m passionate about creating safe, inclusive spaces where everyone can come together and feel empowered on the dance floor."

Fredy: "I go by fredy.club, and I am a Nigeria-born DJ/producer based in Amiskwaciwâskahikan within Treaty 6 territory. Growing up, my wide-eyed curiosity about the building-blocks of great music led me to explore my own tastes and produce beats of my own. I have been living in that rabbit hole ever since. My creative journey has also led me to collaborate with talented local artists as a producer and to work as a DJ and charter member of the Edmonton creative collective I’ll Call You Tomorrow (ICYT).
Inspired by a never-ending blend of artists and genres, I love to take listeners on a ride with me. From smooth, grounding grooves that soothe the soul to infectious club bangers designed to activate your back, I always aim to make eardrums vibrate like never before"

Dual Nature EP release w/ Bad Ham, Wax Duplex, and Dot Cardigan

In 2022, Edmonton noise rock band Dual Nature released their debut full-length album, The End of History. The brooding, post-punk-inspired atmosphere that defined the album resonated with the isolation and bleakness of the early 2020s, capturing the spirit of the time.

On their follow-up EP, the band retains the sorrowful, doomsday feeling traversed on The End of History while drawing further inspiration from the relentless and raw brutality of noise rock acts such as The Jesus Lizard and Metz. Communicated via pummeling drums, piercing guitars, gritty, muscular bass, and manic, snarling vocals, the result is a violent synthesis of despair and rage.

To celebrate and compliment this new release, the show will also feature the weirdo punk of Wax Duplex, the grungy, unhinged rock of Bad Ham, and the melancholic alternative of Dot Cardigan.

Artisan Loyalist 'Petrolia' Album Release

Artisan Loyalist

Artisan Loyalist is the solo project of Edmonton-based musician, Rob Batke. 

His latest full-length effort, Petrolia, arrives October 4th, 2024.

While maintaining the electronic underpinning of previous work, this nine-song collection is a confluence of sonics and thematic elements ranging from 90s rock and fingerstyle guitar, gauzy prestalgia within shoegaze and sampling, and pre-y2k media contending with the modern dystopia.

Petrolia contrasts two overlapping, inward perspectives in this Venn-like milieu as themes grapple with finding liminal space between these trajectories.

From 2006 to 2014, Batke was a member of Faunts, a seminal Canadian shoegaze band, featuring his brothers Tim and Steven Batke. Together, they released their breakthrough EP, M4 (2006) and an album, Feel.Love.Thinking.Of. (2009), plus several of their songs appeared in TV shows and video games, including the Mass Effect franchise.

During this time, Batke quietly honed his skills as a solo electronic producer and played a handful of shows as Artisan Loyalist. After Faunts decided to take a break, Batke branched out on his own and remixed other artists, including Sweden’s MF/MB, and Denmark’s Treefight for Sunlight.

In 2012, Batke’s laptop was destroyed. After a brief period of devastation, he entered a pivotal and productive writing journey, which led to his first EP, You’re Glory, in 2013. He was also commissioned for a remix of 'Gazelle' by synth-pop artist André Obin, which led to Artisan Loyalist signing to New York’s Sky Council Recordings.

His second release, The Ace EP, came out as a teaser in 2014 just as Batke reassembled a live band to further realize the songs with a debut at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City, followed by releasing the full-length debut, Lonely Ghost, in 2015. The album is an expansive and beautiful tour of dreamy pop melodies and electronic textures. With a collection of remixes from artists including Teen Daze, Khotin, and Meet Me In Orbit, Lonely Ghost Remixes was also released in 2015.

The second full-length album, Caustics, was released in 2018. These nine songs feel warm and wistful—a modern take on ‘80s arena pop and mesmerizing electronic rhythms juxtaposed by heavy distortion pedals.

2020 was a year of introspection, and as such, Batke released X O X O, a rediscovered collection of instrumental and ambient material derived from an unrealized scoring project dating a few years back following on the heels of Lonely Ghost. 

In the years following, Batke amassed a number of musical ideas that would formulate the new full-length album, Petrolia. Its lead single, the title track sharing the same namesake, arrives August 23rd, 2024.

Mark Templeton: Two Verses (Faitiche)

For his debut on Faitiche, he browsed his old hard drives and invited Andrew Pekler to listen through and co-produce a selection of Mark’s unreleased works. The compositions act as a series of snapshots: a look back at a decade of archived sounds, re-envisioned and re-imaged for Faitiche. The album contains nine tracks that follow an AB song structure. Each piece begins with verse A, transitions into verse B, and then ends.

Daniel Majer: Time for No Memory (Vaagner)

An exercise in contemporary sound collage, Daniel Majer’s new album comprises a direct and liberated examination of fragments from the past and their valence for the shared present moment. A field of inquiry into nostalgia and its strange and, at times, pervasive place in contemporary culture.

Rachel Gleddie is a Canadian singer/songwriter who, through introspective lyrics and thought-provoking musical textures, draws her listeners into a world in which life’s highs and lows are given space to breathe. The music video for her song, Catacomb, produced by Black Badge Studio, won Best Music Video at the Alberta Media Production Industries Association awards in 2022. Influenced by multiple genres (folk-pop, new americana, and a pinch of alt-country), Rachel Gleddie invites listeners on a unique adventure, where genres meld and intrigue is found in unexpected details. Her highly anticipated full-length album, “Hibernate,” will be released piece by piece throughout early 2024.

Better known to his fans as PRZM, Canadian producer and DJ, Jorel Minuk, was born on the East coast and raised on the prairies. As his musical tastes developed, and with the rise of EDM, he began producing electronic music.

PRZM has had a direct hand in cultivating a thriving electronic dance music scene in Canada, participating and playing in festivals across Canada as well as headlining international stages. He also co-founded LUXE Records, who’s releases have been supported by the likes of Ookay, Henry Fong, and Slushii.

TORN

Multi-talented artist, “TORN”, is pushing limits with his eclectic sound and innovative approach to music. With a discography that spans multiple genres, including dubstep, trap, house, dnb, hardstyle, hip-hop, punk-rock, pop, and classical/symphonic; TORN refuses to be pigeonholed, opting to explore a wide range of sounds and styles. His live sets are equally varied and dynamic, showcasing his ability to blend genres and tempos seamlessly and take audiences on a musical journey.

Goldie Boutilier is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Raised on the music of Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton, Goldie’s music is noted for its cinematic quality and exploration of tragic romance, glamour, and melancholia. Goldie made her first performance at age five using her family’s junkyard business as a rehearsal space and signed her first record deal with Interscope Records at the age of 21.

A revolving door of labels and aliases later, Goldie returned to her hometown roots and re-established herself as an alt-country star, with a nod to 1950s and 1960s Americana. She started back at zero with just her name and her stories, gaining more than 11 million streams on streaming platforms in just two years as an independent artist. Her new era of music has earned praise from the likes of Zane Lowe and Elton John, booked for iconic festivals such as Lollapalooza and Calgary Stampede, and she was even hand-picked for an opening slot by Orville Peck for his North American tour.

With notable features on platforms such as Tiesto's Club Life and The Chris Lake Podcast, Marzetti has also collaborated with industry heavyweights like Avici, Dread MC, Superstar DJ Keoki and Todd Terry. His tracks, released on labels such as Yosh Bass, Bass=Win, Sony/Pyro, and Hatrax, showcase a diverse and energetic presence in the electronic music scene.

Once upon a time he was one of the local record pushers at Treehouse and local Dj in Edmonton, now residing in Calgary he continues to push boundaries and build that massive record collection.

DEFICIT THEORY is the latest project from Umbral Sounds own LOPØLO to showcase the DJ's and producers that are pushing the club sounds of Techno, House, and the grey areas in between. We will be starting off strong with two stone-cold selectors in Natasha Lukenoff & TAF.

Natasha's careful selection of records and smooth blends make her an absolute beast when you're looking to cut a rug at the club. Staying true to the tradition of vinyl, we can't wait to hear a sample of Natasha's crates through our sound system.

For those lucky enough to have experienced Transient (R.I.P.), TAF needs no introduction. An absolute pillar of the Edmonton Techno scene, TAF along with the rest of the Transient crew inspired so much of what we do. You're not going to want to miss the timeless taste that TAF delivers.

It is such a pleasure to have these two start off this series along with that LOPØLO guy who has his moments I guess...We will all be bringing some of our finest wax for the occasion and we hope to share the dance floor together once again.

Mark Boer and Bri Huot connected over their appreciation of americana, folk and outlaw country. Through pursuing their own music, they came together to weld their talents for the sake of the song. As multi-instrumentalists and songwriters, they strive to transcribe their witness of day-to-day living and leave a mark on whoever’s listening.

Sheldon Lizotte

Sheldon Lizotte was raised listening to old school country and western music and has cultured a similar ode in voice. Ranging from Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Townes van Zandt, along with an array of folk and western classics. Sheldon will be sure to remind you of some authentic outlaw country, paired with a classic country voice.

Ways in Waves "Death of Others" Single Release

Sahil Chugh is a producer, composer & keyboard player born and raised in
Edmonton, Alberta, and has been touring throughout the Canadian prairies for nearly a decade with a wide variety of artists and bands spanning several genres.

After receiving a scholarship to study at Macewan University in Edmonton, Sahil was able to study and attend clinic with such renowned musicians as Chris Andrew, Maria Schneider and Jean Michel-Pilc.


As a bandleader Sahil Chugh has had the opportunity to perform his own brand of original & improvised music in Edmonton via monthly and weekly residencies and several local venues including frequent performances and historic Canadian venue, Yardbird Suite. Sahil is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of contemporary improvised music, especially in western Canada.


Sahil's first single, titled 'Night Dragon' was released in November and has since been featured multiple times on satellite radio across North America including KEXP and CBC radio one.

His debut album, 'Don't Be Sad' will be released everywhere on May 3rd, 2024. This album is a compilation of music that was work shopped over years of performing live and writing music. It is a contemporary instrumental album that you could say falls under the vast umbrella of so called 'Jazz' music.

As a producer and composer, He continues to work with an array of pop, electronic, folk & R&B artists as well as taking on commissioned works for both theatre and film.

With original compositions focused on intricate rhythms, collective improvisation and
melodies that soar over top of everything else; each song tells a story in its own unique way.

Ways in Waves

Ways In Waves is the brainchild of Brian Raine, a multi-instrumentalist and music producer living out of Edmonton, Alberta. Originally hailing from Yellowknife, NT, Raine began playing music when he was four years old, and it became his singular focus before moving down to Alberta to study music at MacEwan University. There, he began developing the project that would eventually become Ways In Waves. With malleable form and the spirit of experimentation at its core, the group began as a live duo, and eventually expanded to a five piece live band with Raine picking up vocals as well as guitar and keys parts.

The first record “Bloodless Arches” (2019) was entirely self-produced by Raine and performed by himself and the drummer from the live band. As a whole, the album was conceptualized as an experience that takes the listener through the paces of making it through a bad day. At first it focuses on personal experiences, but zooms out toward the end of the track list. This conceptual writing in the lyrics was reflected in the production elements as well, placing each song in a specific physical space where the story of the lyrics existed.

Teacup Romance shares feelings of being misplaced, post break-up sads, sprinkled with anthemic feminism and determination. If anything, their cup of tea is anything but romantic.
