Groove with Neighbour and Night Vision

This guest post comes via Night Vision team member and music fanatic, Caitlin Varrin.  To celebrate their latest release, Night Vision is teaming up with Astral Harvest Music & Arts Festival to bring you Neighbour this Friday, April 22 at 99ten.

Calgary-born DJ and producer Matt Dauncey (aka Neighbour) has been making western Canada move for a solid decade plus.  He heads up Homebreakin Records in Vancouver and is recently the proud father of a shiny new studio in the Beaumont Studios Artist Society. You might know him from his legendary sunrise sets at your favourite festivals - take your pick from one of his nine Canadian festivals stops last year, including Bass Coast, Shambhala and Astral Harvest - or from a local show that left you grinning and sweaty.  Perhaps you’ve connected through a hilarious conversation at a party or ventured to Vancouver for one of Homebreakin’s infamous Body Language parties.  Although this guy has a lot on the go, chances are if you’re in the same room with him, you’re bound to become friends.  Neighbour is one of us: a spirited music-enthusiast that likes to get down.

The show this Friday comes with a whole range of supporting elements: Neighbour is the selector behind episode 22 of the monthly Night Vision podcast and recently released “Pressure Me”, a fresh, two track EP under the Night Vision label.  As always, his unique blend of funk, disco and house is present throughout his hour-long guest mix and original tracks.  On the technical side of things, Neighbour will be hosting a masterclass at the Night Vision Music Academy (11231 Jasper Ave), the first in a series of classes featuring producers and DJs of international repute.  This session will be your opportunity to learn how Neighbour approaches his productions, his live performances and the music industry, running from 7:30pm-9pm on Friday, just prior to showtime.

Neighbour lights things up into the evening on Friday with support from the Night Vision crew. The dance floor is generally non-stop when he takes the reigns, so warm-up early with some local favourites and be prepared to post up for a vibrant session.  Icing on the cake?  The friends from Astral Harvest are coming along to give away a ticket and prize pack for their 9th season, taking place June 30-July 3 near Driftpile, Alberta.  Start to finish, Friday will be full of your favourite things!  See you on the dance floor!
